Amazon.com Review
Woodworkers who like the smooth, accurate performance of Bosch’s jig saws will appreciate this new cordless model. It offers plenty of power for making curved cuts in a variety of materials, and doesn’t skimp on usability features. At its heart is a powerful and smooth-running Bosch-built motor and a durable and lightweight magnesium gear housing. The saw has variable speed from 0 to 2,000 strokes per minute with a 1-inch stroke length, and a maximum capacity of 2-3/4 inches in wood and 5/16 inch in steel. The base bevels 45 degrees and comes with a foot cover to protect finished surfaces. The tool-free blade-changing system is as simple and quick as we’ve seen, and even ejects used blades with the pull of a lever. There’s a soft rubber top-handle grip that can be used in a couple different positions, and the variable-speed trigger has an ambidextrous lock-on switch. With this tool’s smooth performance and Bosch-built reliability, we think any one who finds curve cutting and cords a cumbersome combination will appreciate it. This 24-volt model comes with one 2.4 amp hr battery, a one-hour charger, a blade set, and a no-mar overshoe. People looking for more power might consider Bosch’s 24-volt model. –Brian Trinen

I just received this jig saw to go with my other 24 volt tools, wow this is very impressive! I am very happy with the smooth cuts that this saw can perform, I also paid a good price for it with the rebate from Amazon, thanks Amazon,, I also have the 18 volt jig saw it is just as nice, if your thinking about purchasing this saw I think you will be happy,,

My only grievances with an otherwise excellent tool would be exclusively with the batteries–the simply don’t perform like anything approaching what is advertised. They are rated 2.0 amp/hr (or 2.4 ? I can’t remember) but I considered it lucky if I could retrieve even 30 min of full-power continuous run-time from them. They tire very, very fast. Even though, in Bosch’s defence I was primarily cutting 3/4″ MDF and particle board which can be demanding on any tool (high glue content). Nonetheless a battery which is supposed to last 2 hours, should at least perform at half of this. If it doesn’t you’ll find yourself in my position of often waiting for a battery to charge in order to finish a cut: which in my opinion is one of the most frustrating things to have happen in the middle of a job. I also bought the 24v circular saw, and the battery included, while still something of a disappointment, works much better than the first in the jigsaw, and is really good in the circ saw.n

Another peeve I’m compelled to note, involves the slop in the battery locking into place. With most of the cordless Bosch tools, if you give them a decent shake, you can feel the battery sliding around, rattling. This has never been severe enough to cause me concern that the battery would simply fall out–it is just annoying once you begin to notice it. A Metabo drill of mine has a nearly identical style of battery retention yet there is almost no slop with this–this system isn’t fundamentally flawed from an engineering standpoint, it just needs refinement (reinforcement and tighter tolerances).n

The jigsaw is every bit the well-designed, superbly durable tool Bosch has built its reputation on. It is nice being totally compatible with all the blades in the Bosch jigsaw universe–although avoid the edge guide: it is a complete waste of money.

GREAT Saw, can be used in lieu of a circular saw and can cut through anything ! But the blades take practice changing !n

The secret is the blades and Bosch now makes the blades available for different manufacturer jig and saber saws.n

Let me say there has never been any piece of wood or board this thing hasn’t been able to rip through, I’ve even cut down mid size tree and the stump with the rough wood blade.n
n
The variable speed trigger is smooth so you can use this saw for fine craft work too.n

Just like every other reviewer, I have to reiterate the blades are tedious to change, it is a tool less system that has to be finessed. TIP: When it arrives and you’ve made a few cuts, practice removing and replacing the blades until you have the routine down. This is important because the blade will warble if it isn’t tight, this happened to us but no one was injured.n

If you already have a nice jigsaw and want the same cutting power, see if Bosch is offering their blades for your model, the bi-opposition teeth design is the real secret.
