I got this unit in part to replace another small unit I have that would go into an “overheat” alarm constantly. That was caused by the unit needing a certain % load before the fan would kick on (rather than a thermal activation of the fan). This unit has the fan running all the time, but I believe that’s better than waiting until it’s too late.
For the fun of it, I tried powering my refrigerator with it (to see if that could work in a power outage) and it worked! I’ve often doubted the “surge” ratings on generators & such that often get emphasized to make the unit seem bigger than it is, but it’s handling that tells me it’s rating of “800W continuous/1600 Surge” is real (the fridge draws at least ~1200W surge to start it and ~360W continuous).
