It’s on the stand from factory but Ive been cutting compsite materials and needs just that little bit more support for 16′ boards. This does the trick nicely.
When the composite board flex’s you either have to press hard, “not good” or give more support so the wood doesnt try and press upwards and against the blade causing risk, damage, & more stress on the carbides.
I ordered one additional work support for the miter saw stand. I will be getting a few more. This allow the support of the center of a long piece, or can be used for adding another back gauge for cutting multiple lengths of material. This is extremely helpful. By flipping the black back gauge up or down, it works as either a support to the middle of a longer cut or the back stop for a shorter cut.
I bought the dewalt stand a couple of years ago.
The stand itself is well engineered, well made.
But when they got to this support arm, apparently someone went to sleep, didn’t care, whatever. Dewalt really failed with this one.
These are great to get a coupl extra supports. They are full adjustable to match the tool in use. But you only need so many on the stand at one time. So either you can adjust a few of them everytime you switch tools, or get enough to have a few for each tool.
In my opion you will realry need more than 3-4 on the stand at once. And the stand comes with two.
I had the saw table run over by a customer and damaged one of the supports. I always said I was going to get a couple more and now I have. These are great to have at the very least three. I keep two on each side of the saw. one at the end of the extension and one at the end of the bench. Glad it got run over, so I had to get the extras I wanted anyway. Great product, great price. It’s the best part of the saw.
I am a kitchen and bath remodeler and use this every day for about 4/5 years and never had a problem, only the ladies car did.
