Product Description
Use on all table, radial arm or underpowered saws for ripping soft and hardwood or plywood 3/4″ to 2-3/4″; for thinner or thicker materials with some loss of surface finish. Thin kerf for less material removal, more control, safer operation and minimized strain. Tri-metal brazing absorbs shock. Expansion slots help control expansion from heat of operation without added noise. Laser cut and computer pretensioned for long life, smooth operation. Tungsten carbide with titanium resists chemicals/acids naturally present in wood and wood products. TCS self-lubricating coating reduces friction for long life and precise cuts; resists chemicals, pitch, resin and rust; cleans with hot water. Alternate top bevel, resharpenable teeth.

The Freud Difference
Freud manufactures some of the most innovative, technologically advanced saw blades in the world. To ensure that the highest quality products meet the toughest design standards, Freud owns and operates six manufacturing facilities in Western Europe. Freud is one of the few manufacturers of woodworking tools in the world that produces its own MicroGrain carbide with titanium, called TiCo — a combination of titanium and cobalt. Freud develops different types of carbide for each application to maximize the cutting life and performance of the tool; and Freud also operates one of the most modern product development research centers in Europe. By overseeing the entire manufacturing process from start to finish, Freud guarantees some of the highest quality, most advanced products in the industry.

About Freud’s Industrial Blades
Freud’s Industrial Series of blades are designed for the serious woodworker. Available in a variety of styles for different applications, LU and LM blades feature thick carbide tips, precision tensioned bodies and other premium features found in every Freud blade. Industrial blades include red Perma-Shield coating or Silver ICE coating to help reduce friction, heat build-up and gumming, which add up to mean longer blade life.
About the 10-Inch 24-Tooth FTG Thin Kerf Ripping Saw Blade
This exceptional Freud blade requires less energy to feed the material into the saw blade, and eases the strain on your power tool. The “fusion” tooth design gives glass smooth side finishes as well as a chip-free top and bottom during both ripping and crosscutting applications; and the Perma-Shield permanent non-stick coating reduces friction, protecting this thin kerf saw blade against corrosion, gumming and pitch build-up. This laser blade made from high-strength steel is built for long life and precision, and it comes pre-tensioned to remain flat through the shocks from cutting and stresses from turning at high speeds. Its anti-vibration reed design eliminates all vibration and produces the cleanest cuts possible, making the use of a stabilizer unnecessary.
Applications
This blade gives new life to underpowered table saws and radial arm saws because the thin kerf does not require much horsepower. The Perma-Shield coating helps this blade pull 1/3 less on the saw, which translates into over 33% more cutting power. The ideal working range is from 3/4 to 2-3/4-inch thick wood, plywood, laminate, or chip board.

Only a genius could keep track of all the Freud blades and only the rich could own them all. Good marketing or just confusing, I don’t know, but they offer a blade for every task and there are a lot of tasks.
Ripping is a common chore and most of us do not own the 220 v saws that are really needed to do this comfortably. I had always used a quality combination blade on my underpowered table saw, but really was not happy with the speed of the cuts or the burning of the maple I use.
I decided to give this blade a try. I chose this blade over the “glue line” rip that Freud offers because I did not want to compromise the cutting speed at all and I figured the glue line version might be more like a combo blade.
Couldn’t be more pleased. This blade just slips through maple rips very easily with no burning or binding at all and the cuts are very good. It would be interesting to test this and the glue-line blade side by side to see what the difference really is. I was lazy and used it for non-critical cross cuts and it wasn’t bad at all.
This is a very useful blade that is not too expensive and I really think it belongs on most consumer level saws.
I’m using it to cut Ipe and some other hard woods what a difference it made from my previous blade, I’m hooked.
I use this blade to rip 2″+ thick hardwood. I own 8 of these and rotate them out to be sharpened. This Sunday I used this blade to go through 5500 ft of hardwood ranging between 2″ and 2 1/4″ in one day. I decided at the end of the day that it should be sharpened before I used it again. The blade does start to follow the grain at high feed speeds of over 60 ft/min, but it creates very good cuts at slightly lower feed speeds. This blade would be great for anyone who needs to cleanly rip wood under 2″ thick.
This blade was made for underpowered saws, but I torture it using a 5 HP Delta cabinet saw. Like I said, I have 8 of these and they can be sharpened many times because of the size of the carbide teeth on the blade. I have ripped thousands of feet of hardwood with this model of blade. I have tried many blades before, but this is the best blade I have found for the price.
I can’t tell you whether this blade is better than some of the other brands (Forrest, CMT etc.), but it is night and day compared to the cheap blades that come with the table saw, or you buy at the home center.
This blade is SHARP. It rips through wood with easy, there is no binding or hesitation, and even my cheap direct-drive underpowered table saw is able to make a decent cut.
This blade does a good job for general ripping, and performs quite well when crosscutting also. The finish is not perfect but the ripped edge can be used for gluing. The narrow kerf conserves wood and does a good job when resawing (my main reason for using a narrow blade).
